roject Nature: This initiative is a sustainable, technology-driven project that merges modern agriculture (Ultra High-Density Technology – UHDT apple farming) with practical school-based education (School-led Social Enterprise) to boost local economic resilience and reduce labor migration.
Location: Shree Mahadev Secondary School premises, Tilagufa Municipality Ward No. 03, Phoi, Kalikot District, Karnali Province, Nepal.
Other Key Activities:
1 Land Preparation & Infrastructure Development: Clearing land, digging specialized pits, preparing the soil with organic matter, and establishing secure fencing around the school orchard area to protect the plants.
2 Sapling Procurement & Transportation: Procuring and safely transporting 2,500 high-quality grafted apple saplings (such as Redlum Gala, Granny Smith, ZAD-1 Delicious, and Perimon) to the remote project site.
3 Irrigation Setup: Establishing an efficient water management and irrigation system to meet the consistent moisture needs of high-density orchard cultivation.
4 QR Coding & Digital Mapping: Tagging each individual apple tree with a unique QR code to digitize tracking, enabling the monitoring of growth parameters, health status, and localized care.
5 Capacity Building & Practical Training: Delivering hands-on training sessions led by an agricultural expert on orchard management, modern pruning methods, seasonal maintenance, and disease control.
6 Stakeholder & Community Coordination: Facilitating regular meetings and collaborative planning with Tilagufa Municipality, the School Management Committee (SMC), teachers, and local farmers to ensure community ownership and long-term project sustainability.
